Visited Mod Thai for the second time — all the way from Sydney! The food was delicious as always, and the staff were absolutely lovely and welcoming- Noon and kristel . They even surprised me with sweets as a token of love for my birthday. Such a thoughtful gesture! Highly recommend this place for both great food and warm hospitality.

The Thai female staff was very lovely and provided good service. The food was delicious, especially the stir-fried basil and steamed fish (I can't remember the name of the dish). The restaurant was large and had a good atmosphere.
Don’t read the negative reviews! My partner and I went to the restaurant for dinner yesterday and we 100% recommend it. At first, I checked the reviews to see if it was good or not, I saw a few negative ones and wasn’t sure if I should risk it, but we finally decided to go and it was the best decision.As soon as we arrived, the owner welcomed us very kindly, even though we didn’t have a reservation, and she gave us a table. The waitresses (a lovely mother and daughter) made the whole experience feel really warm and homely. The food came quickly and everything was absolutely delicious. We’ll definitely be back
Tasty food and great service! Mod Thai will be a staple for us every time we visit the area. We ate the lunch specials which were flavourful and had generous portions. I also really appreciated their hospitality, accommodating the needs of our guests visiting from China. Thanks very much!
Over many years of holidays spent in Nelson Bay, Mod Thai Nelson Bay has been our go to outlet for take away and in-house dining. A second outlet in Shoal Bay which we haven’t visited. An extensive everyday menu including a limited selection as a daily lunch special. Excellent quality and very generous servings nicely presented for in-house dining. On this visit we ordered a Red and a Green Chicken curry with coconut milk takeaway from the lunch special menu. Perfect level of mild spiciness just right for our taste. Our lunch specials came with steamed Jasmine rice. Excellent.
Food was spot on. I like my Thai food spicy, and they didn't disappoint. Good service from a young lady, probs a school girl who was knowledgeable and polite. And if you pay cash, it's cheaper, discounted on the menu pricing.
